CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

New Yugoslav Studies at ASEEES 2026

The New Yugoslav Studies Association is organizing its slate of panels at ASEEES 2026. Last year was a great success for NYS with 22 panels and ancillary events, 80 participants, and over 600 people in attendance. We’re thrilled to invite you to join us at this year’s gathering in Chicago (Nov 12-15) or online (Oct 16-17). To participate, please fill out the intake form linked on this page and regularly review the database of session and paper ideas. We hope this approach will help broaden participation and lead to new collaborative proposals. You are also welcome to share your calls on our NEWYU mailing list.

*If you’re interested in affiliating your sessions with New Yugoslav Studies, please send complete proposals for panels, roundtables, book discussions, or lightning rounds to our programming committee by February 25. You can email us here.

We set up an INTAKE FORM this year to help NYS participants connect with each other and build their panels together. Please fill out this form if you are:

• Seeking a panel for your paper
• Looking for additional participants to join your session
• Pitching a rough idea for a session
• Volunteering to help with a panel
• Informing others about a fully-formed panel

DATABASE OF SESSION AND PAPER IDEAS

The intake form above feeds to a DATABASE OF SESSION AND PAPER IDEAS where other participants can see your responses and contact you directly. You can return to this form and update your responses at any time. For instance, you can begin by proposing a general idea for an NYS session. As other panelists join the session and ideas develop, you can change your initial response (which will be saved) to include their names and topics, while still leaving other needs open. You can also submit a new response with a different idea.
